Y-Wing Fighter (Lego 7658) - Released 2007
The Y-wing Fighter is not my favorite ship of Star Wars, but this lego version has a lot of detail, which makes it kind of cool.
According to the box, the set holds 454 pieces. It also has 2 minifigs, a rebel pilot and an astromech droid (which looks like an R2D2 with red details instead of blue).
The main body of the ship was easy enough to put together, but the two rocket sections (that make the arms of the Y) was very confusing to put together, so my dad needed to help.
Some of the cool features are the cockpit turret, that can move so you can shoot the enemy even if they're behind you! And you can drop 'bombs' (it's a Bomber fighter after all) and shoot missiles from the wings..
Below you can see the Y-Wing in more detail. You can see the Rebel fighter in the cockpit. And you can see the Astromech droid (who were created to just fit inside the turret of the Y-wing!) popping up his little red and silver dome just behind the lasers.
It's a sturdy set, which I like very much about this set, because you can really play with it without pieces coming of.
